Cheryl Marino, P.T.
Cheryl Hahn Marino is a native of Katonah, NY where she attended John Jay High School. She then went on to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
From a very early age, Cheryl was involved in dance, an activity she continued through high school and college. After graduating from Trinity, she went to New York City to work as a professional dancer. She trained and performed with a number of modern dance groups, including Twyla Tharp, Merce Cunningham, Dan Wagner, and Viola Farber.
Cheryl’s dance career evolved into participating in dance therapy and kiniesology (the science of movement analysis). She developed an interest in physical therapy and returned to school at Kingsborough College for her prerequisite courses. In 1978, she was accepted to the Physical Therapy Program at Downstate Medical Center where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in 1980.
Her first position as a physical therapist was at Staten Island University Hospital and then St. Vincent’s Medical Center. At St. Vincent’s, she met her husband, Mike Marino. Together they started Rehab Physical Therapy in 1983.
Cheryl’s background in dance and kiniesiology brought a unique talent to this practice. Her expertise in movement analysis lent an added dimension to patient evaluation. She has taken numerous continuing education courses including McKenzie and Paris spinal courses, as well as myofascial release and craniosacral therapy training. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Along with her husband Mike Marino, Cheryl is actively involved in staff development which ensures the continuation of the quality of care that was started in 1983.
