Kristine Zieris is a native Staten Islander and a graduate of St. Joseph by the Sea High School and St. Francis College. She attended St. Francis College on a full athletic basketball scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management in 1992. At St. Francis College, she was a member of the Duns Sectus Honor Society and Senator of the Student Council.
During her senior year in college, Kris needed knee surgery for reconstruction of her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). She did her rehabilitation here at Rehab Physical Therapy Associates under the care of Mike Marino. As a patient, she saw first hand the professionalism and dedication given to all patients. This became the driving force behind her leaving her teaching career, returning to physical therapy school, and eventually joining the staff in 1998.
After graduating from St. Francis College, Kris became a teacher for the New York City Board of Education. She taught 6th grade math and science at IS 318 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for three years. While teaching, she took the prerequisite courses she needed for physical therapy school. She was accepted to the Hunter College Physical Therapy Program and was graduated Sum Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1997. After graduation, she was employed at Staten Island University Hospital as a staff therapist. She has experience in acute care, long-term rehab, pediatrics, and home care.
